You will have an opportunity to go on a city tour in Tallinn with a professional guide. Groups leave at 12:00 and 14:00. You can stay in Tallinn for the whole day or even until the Welcome Reception starting in Tartu at 18:30 on June 29.
Please mind that the bus trip from Tallinn to Tartu takes 2.5 hours. The airport hotel is Mercure – the Delegate Services have made a prebooking with discount prices also at that hotel. The public transport bus to Tartu also stops at the airport so it is convenient to stay there and leave your luggage for the city tour, if you wish.

This Tartu city tour offers a captivating walk through the historical centre of Tartu guiding you to observe the imprints of history in Tartu, spanning from the Middle Ages to the present day. The tour encompasses an exploration of the historic buildings within the University of Tartu campus, distinguished with the European Heritage Label. You will climb the slopes of Toomemägi and see the Old Astronomical Observatory, an integral component of the Struve Geodetic Arc, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The duration for one group is 90 minutes.

The Estonian National Museum is an ethnologically and cultural-historically oriented museum which aims at reflecting everyday life and culture as a way of life, taking into account its periodical, spatial and social diversity. The museum focuses on collecting, preserving and studying material concerned with the culture and history of Estonians, Estonian minorities and Finno-Ugric peoples and making it accessible. You will have the chance to visit the museum every day during the conference.

The Science Centre was founded by the University of Tartu, the Ministry of Education and Research and the City of Tartu. AHHAA's main mission is to promote science to the public. The mission of AHHAA is to develop a knowledge-based mindset by providing the joy of discovery. AHHAA's four core values are knowledge, excitement, professionalism and friendliness.
The conference dinner will be a three-course dinner.
When: Departure is in the morning of July 5 from Tartu, the tour will end in Tallinn on July 6.
Where: The post-conference tour will take participants to Saaremaa, the largest island in Estonia. On the way, we will visit the Soomaa and Matsalu National Parks. Once on the island, we will visit the capital city Kuressaare, the island of Muhu, the Kaali meteorite crater, Loode oak grove and the seaside.
Price: 425€
It includes the bus, spa accommodation for one night, one breakfast, two lunches, one exclusive dinner, all ferry and museum tickets.
Registration: registration for the post-conference excursion is open until 1st June 2025 or until fully booked.
The tour will happen when there are at least 20 people registered, the maximum number per tour is 45.

Our post conference excursion brings us to Saaremaa, the largest island of Estonia. It is a beautiful, special place with unique nature.
The excursion will be guided by Prof. Ülo Mander (University of Tartu).
The excursion leaves from Tartu at 7:30AM. After a 3-hour drive, we will make the first stop and break at Ingatsi study trail in Soomaa where you can see a 10-meter high slope of peat. We will stop there for 2 hours and continue the journey to catch the 12:55 ferry to the island Saaremaa.
We will make a lunch break in the Koguva village. After that, we will visit the Valjala church, and stronghold (established in the 1200s). We will then visit the Kaali meteorite crater and arrive to Kuressaare by 7PM. We will have dinner in the Kuressaare castle at 8PM. Accommodation will be in twin rooms in Kuressaare.
On the second day, we will head off towards Sõrve at 8AM. We will visit the Lõo alvar and hopefully see natural orchids. We will visit Lümanda and Viidumäe where we will have lunch. After that, we will go and see the Kihelkonna church and the spring of Odalätsi. We will take a peak at the Panga cliff as well as Hangla windmills. We will catch the ferry back to the mailand at 6PM and we will reach Tallinn in around 9.30PM.
